Press & media

Billie is built by someone who has been on both sides of the problem.

TaLona H. Holbert, Esq. is the founder and CEO of Billie, and an award-winning litigator who spent a decade inside Big Law scrutinizing legal records.
She grew up in the foster care system, where legal records defined her childhood — where she would live, who adopted her, and whether she could access basic documents such as her original birth certificate or records about her birth parents.

Everything a journalist needs

Short bio — 50 words

TaLona H. Holbert, Esq. is the founder and CEO of Billie, an AI platform that lets people see, understand and fix their own public records. A former Big Law litigator named to Crain’s 40 Under 40 and the National Black Lawyers Top 100, she built Billie after a forgotten ticket nearly cost her bar admission.

Long bio — 120 words

TaLona H. Holbert, Esq. is the founder and CEO of Billie Systems, Inc. She spent a decade in litigation — at Weitz & Luxenberg, Steptoe, and Stroock & Stroock & Lavan — managing thousands of mass tort cases and representing financial institutions, while doing pro bono work in housing, discrimination and access to justice.
Placed in foster care at birth and adopted at five, she earned a B.A. in Political Science from Adelphi University before attending Cardozo Law on a full-tuition scholarship as an E. Nathaniel Gates Scholar. She founded Billie after a forgotten transit citation quietly became a warrant that nearly cost her bar admission. Billie is named for her late adoptive mother, Billie Joyce Holbert, who raised dozens of foster children and kept meticulous files on every one.
